Ken Sim made a choice. In November 2025, Mayor Sim and his ABC-majority council pushed through their “zero means zero” budget, locking in a 0% property tax increase. Sim is now promising another zero-increase budget in 2027.
We have to stop this.
Why? Because his budget forces city departments delivering core public services to make $120 million in cuts. It means frontline jobs are being eliminated or left vacant, and the residents who rely on city services are paying the price.
Ken Sim claims this makes Vancouver more affordable.
For most of us, it just makes the city less functional.
Ken Sim’s “zero means zero” approach only seems to apply when it suits him. He approved $2 million for a single day of fireworks, while shutting down the renter’s office, reducing staff in planning and sustainability, pausing all new supportive housing projects, and cancelling public safety initiatives like cooling kits for vulnerable residents.
His commitment to another 0% property tax increase in 2027 means this is only the beginning.
There is no way to slash funding at this scale without slashing the services that make Vancouver work.
Tell Ken Sim you will not forget the harm caused by his “zero means zero” budget. We need to make sure he is remembered as the mayor who weakened our city to pay for it.
Use this page to send him a clear message. Tell him his budget is hurting Vancouver, and we expect better.
